We have a few days until February and we all know what that means? No I am not talking about planning your Valentines Day with your sweetheart, debating about how Jesus is letting Kurt Warner be in the superbowl and I am not talking about gearing up for black awareness month.

I will say something though:

“I have a dream! My sweetheart is in my garage and Jesus she is wanting to come out and play”

Fishing pre-season is officially on for me.

Now is prime time to start planning the upcoming spring season. A time to get back in touch with your fishing partners and a time to start dreaming about that monster slab. You may notice yourself doing a twice over for specials at Bass Pro or Cabelas (AKA Bud’s place).  You may start looking for fishing reports from prior years hoping a new one shows up soon. You may be wondering what excuse you are going to come up with this year to buy more fishing tackle / gear. Maybe you start to google techniques or dig up old fishing videos to give you that edge. Those that have a significant others are likely kissing ass to allow them to take a couple of weekends off and for some probably have to compensate by scheduling something with her to compensate.

All in all this is the time to get in that mindset. This will be a prelude to a 3 part series for me starting off 2009.  Over the next few weeks I will cover the following

I. What lakes I am going to hit

II. What fish I will go after

III. What gear I am going to use.

Let’s get it on!
